August 13th Mega Auction!

Our August 2016 sale is one of the biggest we have had in recent history. With over 650 lots there is a huge array of material with something to suit just about any collector. Highlights range from a 1492 incunable in a very good example of a fifteenth century binding, as well as a 1581 Martin Luther bound in vellum, to A Voyage to Terra Australis by Matthew Flinders first edition and some highly desirable boxing photographs, one of which is signed by Les Darcy.

This sale is best described as eclectic, with subjects including Egyptology, Australiana, sailing, boxing, art, indigenous Australians, exploration and juvenile literature. It’s this type of sale that really excites us and our buyers as there is always something to be discovered in amongst the vast array of hoods on offer!

Thomas Hardy Collection – Online Only Sale

Hardy is regarded as one of the most influential English novelists and poets and over the years his works have become highly collectible. This online only sale features some fantastic items, including several first editions and signed books. Of particular note is a school book, ‘Popular System of Classical Instruction Combining the Methods of Locke Ascham Milton. Virgil’s Aeneid…’ It has been signed ‘T Hardy’ with the bookplate ‘From the Library of Thomas Hardy, O.M. Max Gate’ affixed to the front endpaper. There are first editions of ‘Wessex Poems and Other Verses’, ‘Human Shows Far Phantasies Songs and Trifles’, ‘Winter Words In Various Moods and Metres’ amongst others. Another highlight is ‘The Early Life of Thomas Hardy 1840-1891’ and ‘The Later Years of Thomas Hardy 1892-1928’ both signed by Florence Hardy.
