February 22nd Auction Highlights

Another successful auction was held on Feb 22nd, with a variety of books on subjects ranging from art and Aboriginal Australian, to antiquarian, medical and law. Highlights included Strehlow Songs of Central Australia selling for $2,000, an 1831 broadsheet Testimonial To George Augustus Robinson reaching $2,000, a set of Art in Australia reaching $3,000 and a beautiful Eighteenth Century Compass and Sun Dial realising $550.

The clearance rate was approximately 90%, showing strong interest in the auction and great value for both vendors and buyers alike. We would like to thank all of those that attended or bid online and look forward to seeing you at our next sale.


December 14th Auction Review

Sydney Rare Book Auctions had a very successful sale on Saturday 14th December. Over 85 % of the lots sold with the highest being $4000 for the set of Art in Australia. Other high priced items were the six Irish Fore edge paintings which sold for $2600 + premium. Most of the antiquarian books sold with interest in all the sixteenth and seventeenth century titles ensuring that they mostly sold at the upper range of the estimates. The maps also sold well with several lots selling for more than $1000.
