There are lots monographs and catalogue raisonnes, as well as some good art theory books. There are piles of books on the Modernists including: Pablo Picasso, Alberto Giacometti, Paul Klee, Vincent van Gogh and Henry Moore. As well as mountains of books on Expressionism including German artists Ernest Ludwig Kirchner and Max Beckmann.
There are some lovely Private Press deluxe Folio Society and work from David Jones and Eric Gill.
We also have two copies of The Red Book by Carl Jung who had a great influence on the creative process. This is the first time the Red Book has been published. It was written after Jung spent time with Sigmund Freud. The deluxe copy is folio size and bound in leather and house in a felted box. There are two sections of this work, a good colour facsimile of the manuscript with decorative initials, borders and colourful mandalas.’
Australian art has not been forgotten in our auction. There is an original watercolour study by John Coburn, original plans for a book cover by Adrien Feint (Lot 384) and an archive of correspondence from the controversial Australian Academy of Art.
