For those who dare … uncharted lands and the newly discovered

The theme that links many of the items in this auction catalogue is: ’those who dared.’ Those who pushed the boundaries, ventured into uncharted waters, discovered new species or created new technologies.

We have a number of early voyages including Bligh, Forster, Cook, Anson, La Perouse, Dumont D’Urville, Dampier, Flinders. For those with a lighter purse we have nice Hakluyt Society to enjoy.

As usual we have many Aboriginal Australian books, Colonial Exploration and Gold Mining. We also have a number of maps including 1872 Basch Atlas of NSW.

We have some good and interesting books on scientific documentation and classification. Including a scarce Melbourne botany book by Fanny Anne Charsley who was one of the ladies who collaborated with Frederick von Mueller. We also have an exciting collection of books by zoologists and herpetologists James Edward Gray, Gerard Krefft, James Kinghorn, Frank Tidswell.

For those who like the arts we have a good number of Art, Architecture, Furniture, Clocks, Watches and Jewellery. Perhaps the most outstanding is Kaldor Art book with portfolio of artworks signed by the artists. Included are Christo and Jean-Claude, Miralda, Mike Parr, Imants Tillers, Ken Unsworth, Jeff Koons and more.

For collectors of first editions, we have numerous first editions including Charles Dickens, Roald Dahl, Maurice Sendak, Mary Gilmore, CJ Dennis, Dr Seuss and more.  And for those of you that enjoy fine bindings, we have many including lots of Folio Society.
