First Edition Juvenile Titles

The September 9th Sydney Rare Book Auction sale will feature a fantastic collection of juvenile titles. They range from first edition Beatrix Potter books, to a signed Dr Seuss and first edition Babars. See below for some of the highlights!

Babar’s Travels, Brunhoff Jean De, London Methuen 1935 Original papered boards with some minor wear to the corners and edges. The original cloth spine is very good. A very good tight copy. $400-600

Histoire de Babar Le Petit Elephant, Brunhoff Jean De, London Paris 1931, 1st edition. Original papered boards with some wear to the corners and edges. The original cloth spine is very good. A very good tight copy. Footnotes: The first issue of the first edition of the first Babar book. $500-700

Twinkie Town Tales, EMERY Carlyle, Wisconsin, Whitman Publishing [1927] Quarto size. Original illustrated boards in bright dustwrapper. Illustration by Arthur Henderson. Previous owners name on front endpaper and dustwrapper a little worn, else very good. $250-350

1) The Tale of Timmy Tiptoes 2) The Tale of Pigling Bland Beatrix Potter. Both very good copies. Footnotes: Both are first editions as per Quinby No. 20 and 22. Comes with about 11 other Potter tiles in poor condition and all reprints. $300-500

1st edition 500 Hats, Dr Seuss. New York, Vanguard Press, 1938. Original cloth backed papered boards. Great copy in a very good dustwrapper. Footnotes: First ed, 2nd issue with the price on the wrapper $2.95 and the hats on the front endpaper running from small to large (left to right). $250-500

The Cat in the Hat, Signed, Seuss Dr. London, Collins, 1961 reprint. Original boards in dustwrapper. The wrapper is worn otherwise a very good copy. Footnotes: Signed by Dr Seuss $350-500
